Characteristics, advantages and disadvantages of globe valves

A globe valve refers to a valve in which the closing element (valve disc) moves along the centerline of the valve seat. According to the movement of the valve disc, the change in the valve seat opening is directly proportional to the stroke of the valve disc. Due to the relatively short opening or closing stroke of the valve stem and its highly reliable shut-off function, as well as the proportional relationship between the change in the valve seat opening and the stroke of the valve disc, this type of valve is very suitable for regulating flow. Therefore, this type of valve is very suitable for use as a cut-off, regulating, and throttling device.


The selection principle is: 1. Globe valves should be used on pipelines or devices for high temperature and high pressure media. High temperature and high-pressure pipelines in thermal power plants, nuclear power plants, and petrochemical systems. 2. On pipelines with lax flow resistance requirements. Places where pressure loss is not given much consideration. 3. Small valves can be selected from needle valves, instrument valves, sampling valves, pressure gauge valves, etc. 4. There is flow regulation or pressure regulation, but the requirement for regulation accuracy is not high, and the diameter of the pipeline is relatively small. For example, on a pipeline with a nominal diameter of 50mm, it is recommended to choose. 5. Small and large fertilizers in synthetic industry production should use high-pressure angle globe valves or high-pressure angle throttling valves with nominal pressure PN160 and nominal pressure 16MPa or PN320 and nominal pressure 32MPa. 6. In the desilication workshop and coking prone pipelines of alumina Bayer process production, it is easy to choose DC globe valves or DC throttling valves with separate valve bodies, removable valve seats, and hard alloy sealing pairs. 7. For water supply and heating projects in urban construction, shut-off valves, balance valves, or plunger valves can be used for pipelines with a nominal diameter of less than 150mm. **The obvious advantage is that during the opening and closing process, the friction between the valve disc and the sealing surface of the valve body is smaller than that of a gate valve, making it wear-resistant.


The opening height is generally only 1/4 of the diameter of the valve seat channel, so it is much smaller than gate valves. Usually, there is only one sealing surface on the valve body and disc, so the manufacturing process is relatively good and easy to maintain. Nominal pressure or pressure level: PN1.0-16.0MPa, ANSI CLASS 150-900, JIS10-20K nominal diameter or caliber: DN10-500, NPS 1/2-36 'Connection method: flange, butt welding, thread, etc. Applicable temperature: -196 ℃~700 ℃ Drive mode: pneumatic, electric, hydraulic, pneumatic hydraulic linkage, valve body material: WCB、ZG1Cr18Ni9Ti、ZG1Cr18Ni12Mo2Ti、CF8(304)、CF3(304L)、CF8M(316)、CF3M(316L)、Ti。 By selecting different materials, it can be applied to various media such as water, steam, oil, nitric acid, acetic acid, oxidizing media, urea, etc.
