Gate valve, as an important fluid control device, has a gate valve as its opening and closing member, and the direction of the gate valve movement is perpendicular to the direction of the fluid. This design allows the gate valve to only be fully opened or fully closed, and cannot be adjusted or throttled. However, its characteristics of low fluid resistance, wide applicability, and unrestricted flow direction of the medium make it capable of performing well in many situations.

Structurally, gate valves have good sealing performance, thanks to their two sealing surfaces, which are typically designed in a wedge shape to accommodate different valve parameters. This design not only improves the sealing performance, but also maintains excellent sealing effect when the medium temperature is not high. In addition, the design of the gate also takes into account processability and processing deviations, and can improve sealing performance through slight deformation.

When the gate valve is closed, its sealing surface can achieve self sealing through medium pressure or forced sealing through external force. The linear motion of the gate is achieved through the design of a lifting or rotating rod, which makes the operation more convenient and intuitive.

In applications, gate valves are widely used in various fluid control scenarios, such as water, steam, and various corrosive media. Its unique structure and performance make it an indispensable part in many industrial fields.

The working principle of a manual gate valve is to lift or lower the valve plate connected to the valve stem by rotating the handwheel and utilizing the forward and backward movement of the thread between the handwheel and the valve stem, thereby achieving the opening and closing of the gate valve. It is worth noting that there are many manufacturers of gate valves in China, which often leads to inconsistent connection sizes.

This should be noted in practical applications.

1、 According to the different materials of the shell or main body, gate valves can be divided into the following categories:

1、 Classification of Gate Valves

There are various ways to classify gate valves, one of which is based on the difference in shell or main body materials. Specifically, metal material valves such as carbon steel valves and alloy steel valves are widely used in the industrial field due to their strong durability and strong corrosion resistance. Metal valve body lined valves, such as rubber lined valves and fluorine lined valves, further enhance their corrosion resistance by adding a layer of corrosion-resistant material inside the metal valve body. In addition, there are non-metallic material valves such as ceramic valves, plastic valves, etc., which perform well in specific situations due to their unique physical and chemical properties.

2、 Further classification of gate valves

According to different classification methods, gate valves can be further subdivided into multiple types. For example, parallel gate valves, wedge gate valves, etc. are classified according to their structural characteristics; And quick opening and closing gate valves, shrink gate valves, etc. are distinguished based on their functions. These different types of gate valves have differences in performance, usage, and price, so choosing which type of gate valve to use depends on specific application requirements.

3、 Internal structure and configuration of gate valve

The internal structure of gate valves also has a significant impact on their performance and effectiveness. For example, wedge gate valves and parallel gate valves are two common configuration methods. Wedge gate valves can be divided into various types such as single gate plate, double gate plate, and elastic gate plate; Parallel gate valves are usually designed with single or double gate valves. In addition, the thread position of the valve stem is also an important factor affecting the performance of gate valves, which determines the lifting method and sealing effect of the valve stem.

In summary, selecting a suitable gate valve requires comprehensive consideration of multiple factors, including shell or body materials, structural characteristics, functional requirements, and internal configuration. By understanding these classification methods and precautions, we can better select and apply gate valves to ensure their optimal performance and effectiveness in practical use.

Handwheels, handles, and transmission mechanisms should not be used for lifting, and collisions should be avoided.

Double gate valves should be installed vertically, with the valve stem kept vertical and the handwheel located at the top.

Gate valves with bypass valves should be opened before opening to balance the pressure difference between the inlet and outlet and reduce the resistance during opening.

When installing gate valves with transmission mechanisms, follow the instructions in the product manual for operation.

If the valve needs to be opened and closed frequently, it is recommended to lubricate it at least once a month to ensure smooth use.

Gate valves with handwheels or handles should be operated to ensure that clockwise rotation is closed and counterclockwise rotation is open. If loose sealing is found, the sealing surface or other related parts should be inspected and repaired. Meanwhile, it should be noted that auxiliary levers should not be added during operation. For gate valves with transmission mechanisms, they should be operated strictly according to the product manual.
